The proceeds from ticket sales will go to Tehran’s Mahak Society.
The orchestra will be conducted by Iranian-Armenian composer Loris Tjeknavorian and the concerts will be performed at the society’s amphitheater from May 26 to June 2.
“The concerts will feature different performances over eight nights and Iranian and world classical pieces will be played during the event,” Tjeknavorian said at a press conference in Tehran on Monday.
“Despite the large of number of professional virtuosos here, in my opinion Iran suffers from a lack of a cohesive chamber orchestra due to the unfavorable economic situation of musicians in this country,” he lamented.
Iranian artists should help children suffering from cancer and promote music at the same time by performing at charity societies like Mahak, he said.
Funding for cultural events will encourage creative thought and produce innovative ideas, Tjeknavorian added.
The 22 musicians and seven soloists of the orchestra will perform Vivaldi's Four Seasons, a Chopin piano concerto, compositions by Heshmat Sanjari, and a number of other pieces.
At the press conference, musician Hushang Kamkar said that some of the pieces to be performed are based on Kurdish music composed by Arsalan Kamkar.
A santur solo will be performed by Ardavan Kamkar and Ardeshir Kamkar will perform kamancheh solos during the concerts, the spokesman of the Kamkar ensemble added.
